HUMIDITY X DECORATION
Finding mold stains on the walls or having to live with the smell of moisture in some rooms in the house is quite uncomfortable.
In addition to damaging the aesthetics and structure of the property, moisture and the proliferation of mold can also cause damage to health.
Humidity comes from a number of factors and it is important to identify the cause. Possible solutions may involve interventions in the structure of the property, but there are some resources that can be used to mitigate and prevent the effects of humidity at home.
The first step to avoid any type of infiltration is to ensure that the property receives a good waterproofing. The waterproofing process must be applied to all parts of the building that may come into contact with water or wet soil, such as external walls, slabs, substructures, beams, subfloor, wet areas and retaining walls.
Another important point is to predict, whether in a construction project or renovation, the inclusion of sufficient windows and openings to promote cross ventilation, renewing the air and allowing sunlight to enter.
Identify the environments where damp spots always appear and evaluate the possibility of exchanging existing windows for larger models.
It is useless to spend a lot of money with expensive and sophisticated finishing materials, if there is no care when it comes to waterproofing. What is behind the walls is as important as a good finish, as it is the guarantee that your investment in pieces of furniture (eg built-in or planned furniture), decoration (eg plaster moldings and ceilings) and finishes ( marble on the floors, textures on the external walls and etc.) are not damaged by moisture and mold.
