WATERPROOFING IN PARKING SLABS

Waterproofing parking slabs requires a lot of care. This is important to guarantee the desired tightness and the flexibility to follow the movements that occur in the structure.

Thus, resistance to abrasion and traction necessary to ensure that the friction caused by the wheels does not affect the integrity of the waterproofing materials is created.

The buffer layer has the function of absorbing this energy that is generated by the traffic of vehicles. It works as protection, preventing the loads that are generated when braking vehicles or the movement of equipment, from being directed towards waterproofing, which can cause wear or breakage.

Among the various products that can be used to make the cushioning layer are DRYKO EMUL and DRYKOFOAM. They are, simultaneously, an asphalt emulsion and plates for thermal insulation molded in XPS – Extruded Polystyrene of high resistance. Its homogeneous and sealed structure favors the low permeability of water and steam, ensuring economy and performance in waterproofing, thermal insulation and acoustic comfort.

DRYKOFOAM plates can be loose on the surface. Therefore, it is recommended to adhere in some points only for fixation, avoiding displacement due to the force of the wind. There should be no space between the plates.

DRYKO EMUL, asphalt emulsion composed of asphalt and modified special additives. It is used in the preparation of mortar and mastic for waterproofing systems and as a buffer layer.

In both cases, the mechanical protection must consist of reinforced concrete and dimensioned by a calculating engineer, to meet the request of the area to be waterproofed.
