MECHANICAL PROTECTION

For a perfect waterproofing, there are some basic rules to be followed:

– Surface preparation.

– Application of the material.

– Mechanical protection (when applicable).

Mechanical protection is a very important element to guarantee the protection and durability of the waterproofing system. This protection is composed of cement and sand mortar, adhesive emulsion

and, if the project requires it, it must be structured with a screen.

In the case of swimming pools, if waterproofing is carried out with a blanket asphalt, it is recommended to apply structured mechanical protection with (preferably plastic), as the materials will be submerged in water

treated, heated or not. Its purpose is to support the weight of the protection mechanics, preventing stresses from occurring, causing the mechanical protection of the substrate.

This job is simple, following just a few steps:

– Check if there is a need for movement joints.

– Carry out the roughcast.

– Place the plastic screen.

– Leave clearance at least 70 cm towards the deck for anchoring.

– Cover the screen with mortar (about 3 cm thick)

– Application of the coating material.
