DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO
18 kg
Two-component waterproofing based on special cement and acrylic polymer resins, characterized by a flexible membrane with excellent adhesion properties and impermeability to positive hydrostatic pressure.
Where to Apply:
- Water reservoirs and tanks
- Wet or damp areas: kitchens, bathrooms, service areas
- Terraces, balconies, and verandas without direct exposure to weather
- Wet or damp areas with drywall construction
- Pools and submerged water features, with prior application of DRYKOTEC 1100 PRO
For other applications, consult our DRYKO technical team.
The substrate for the application of DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO must be clean and free of foreign bodies, formwork residues, rebar tips, release agents, impregnated products, defects, and voids. For smooth concrete surfaces, perform sanding with a wire brush or mechanically to open porosity and remove release agents or curing compounds.
If necessary, ensure leveling with a minimum slope of 1% for external areas and 0.5% for internal areas, towards water drainage points. Prepare with a mortar mix of cement and medium sand in a 1:4 ratio, adding DRYKOFIX CHAPISCO adhesive emulsion to the mixing water for better adhesion to the substrate. The mortar should have a smooth finish, with a minimum thickness of 2 cm.
Emerging pipes and drains should be rigidly fixed with DRYKOPOXI. Drains should have a minimum diameter of 75 mm (3 inches).
Around drains and emerging pipes (e.g., toilet bowls), use DRYKO SELANTE PU as reinforcement between concrete and PVC.
Cold joints and concrete seams can be treated with DRYKOPOXI or as recommended by the structural engineer in charge.
Before applying DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO in pools or reservoirs, apply DRYKOTEC 1100 PRO.
Observations
- The mortar used for leveling should not contain lime or waterproofing additives. If necessary, use DRYKAL.
- Allow the mortar to cure for at least 7 days.
- In pools or elevated concrete reservoirs, conduct a water load test for at least 72 hours to accommodate the structure before waterproofing, checking for possible cracks and fissures that may occur under full load.
Product Preparation
Add the entire component B (liquid) into a clean container. Using a mixer with a propeller, start mixing while gradually adding component A (powder – special cement). Mix components A and B mechanically for an average of 5 minutes with a clean, suitable rod until a homogeneous, lump-free paste is formed.
Product Application
Before starting the application of DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO, moisten the surface without creating puddles or runoff. Depending on the ambient temperature, you may need to constantly moisten the surface before applying DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO.
Use a soft-bristle broom, brush, paintbrush, or rectangular brush for application. With the substrate moist, apply the product in cross coats, in uniform and thin layers, respecting the interval between coats (4 to 8 hours) until the recommended consumption of 3 to 4 kg/m² is reached.
After applying the first coat of DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO, reinforce the entire surface with DRYKO TELA. Apply subsequent coats until the recommended consumption is reached, ensuring the DRYKO TELA is fully covered.
Stir the product every 15 minutes during application to prevent the solids from settling.
Leak Test
Allow the product to cure after applying the final coat before performing the leak test for a minimum duration of 72 hours.
Mechanical Protection
When necessary, we recommend applying mechanical protection using a 1:3 mix with DRYKOFIX CHAPISCO in the mixing water, with a minimum thickness of 2 cm, or laying ceramic tiles over the product with ACIII mortar.
In the last coat of the still-wet product, you can sprinkle dry sand for better adhesion of the mechanical protection or ceramic tile installation.
Recommendations
- Follow the scope, details, and finishes as per the project.
- In temperatures near or above 30°C, moisten the base more frequently and intensively; the same applies to very large areas due to the higher evaporation rate of water.
- Do not apply on a dry substrate under any circumstances. Also, moisten the product between coats.
- Not recommended for outdoor areas with sun exposure.
- On hot days, hydrate the product with water during curing. DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO does not have UV resistance.
- Each coat of DRYKOTEC 5500 PRO consumes approximately 1 to 1.5 kg/m².
- Do not install heavy coverings, natural stones, or coverings with dry joints or spacing less than 3 mm.
- Mechanical protection mortar is recommended for floors in water reservoirs due to cleaning activities in these areas.
- When installing the final covering over the waterproofing, use ACIII adhesive mortar.
- Do not use in areas with a pH lower than 6.
- For reservoir ceilings, use DRYKOPUR TANQUE, 1 kg/m².
- In reservoirs or tanks, measure the pH before human or animal consumption.
- For fish tanks and similar, measure the pH of the water and adjust if necessary before adding the fish.
- In tanks, reservoirs, and any other areas in permanent contact with water, clean the product surface thoroughly to remove product residues and rinse abundantly, avoiding chemical and mechanical aggressors.
- We recommend that our products be applied by trained professionals specialized in waterproofing activities.
Valid for 12 months from the date of manufacture if storage guidelines are followed.
Store in a covered, dry, and ventilated area, away from heat sources, in environments with temperatures not exceeding 30°C, and in an upright position.
- Handle with care. Use gloves and PPE according to current standards.
- In enclosed spaces, create forced ventilation if necessary.
- For more information on handling and safety, refer to the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS), available on our website – www.dryko.com.br.
- Dispose of the contents/container at an approved waste treatment and disposal facility. Do not reuse the packaging.
